Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees Using Free-fall Techniques

This course is for people who work as Tree surgeons, Arborists. The course provides the knowledge and skill requirements for candidates to be assessed for City & Guilds (NPTC) regulated qualification (QCF).

Course Overview

Successful candidates will understand legislation and safety guidelines pertaining to the use of a chainsaw from a rope and harness. They will understand the safety considerations to be observed when organising the site. Pre-start checks to the chainsaw will be carried out and demonstration techniques for hauling chainsaws in to the tree and attaching them to the harness. Candidates will establish secure working positions, demonstrate the use of various step and sink cuts along with final pruning cuts. They must also demonstrate safe and efficient practises when removing light and medium weight branches. They will have a clear understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a competent ground person.

This course can also be completed as a refresher for those who need to maintain their qualification.
