Chainsaws – Basic Felling Techniques (up to 200mm in diameter) ITA

This course is for anyone who already holds certification for Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting and is required to operate chainsaws, outside of forestry and arboriculture, for felling small trees up to 200mm only.

Course Overview

This 3 day practical course will enable candidates to successfully understand risk assessment procedure and assess the trees to be felled for hazards and associated risks. Participants will prepare trees to be felled and escape routes. Also fell trees that have a diameter up to 200mm / 8” safely and accurately using different techniques. They will de-limb felled trees in a safe and effective manner along with selecting and using hand tools and maintain them in a safe condition. Candidates will go on to take down hung-up trees using hand tools and will be able to state techniques that must not be used.
