Brushcutters/Trimmers – Maintenance & Operation
Any person who is or will be required to operate this machine.
Course Overview
During this course the use of the manufacturer’s instruction book is stressed at all times to ensure maintenance and adjustments are carried out to manufacturers’ recommendations. Successful candidates will be able to state and comply with safety and legal requirements of a brush cutter/trimmer, with an emphasis on safe practices, warning signs and guards, along with identifying the correct protective clothing to wear and the standards required. They will perform routine maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s handbook and identify faults and defects on a brushcutter/trimmer and decide which the operator can easily remedy, and which should be referred to a specialist engineer. The course covers identifying which cutting head to select for the relevant operating conditions and carrying out fuel mixing correctly and be able to start the brushcutter/trimmer from both a hot and a cold condition in a safe manner. Candidates will operate the brushcutter/trimmer in a safe manner having regard for the safety of themselves, the public, property and environmental factors. They will also plan systematic working operations and use the manufacturer’s instruction book and parts list
Duration:
Brushcutter: Two days for novices and one day for experienced operators.
Trimmers: 1 day
Costs including VAT and Registrations: 2 day course – £256.14, 1 day course – £142.14
